These Bones- original abstract art by Velma Lewis, Art Studio by Velma
What the Hands Know
These Bones began as something sacred — three figures on crosses, a meditation on sacrifice and suffering. But the brush had other plans.
As the painting unfolded, the hand moved freely, the mind stepped aside, and something deeper took over. Bold crimson surges across the canvas, raw and unapologetic. Black cuts through like shadow and memory. Warm gold holds its ground beneath it all — ancient, enduring, alive. And scattered throughout, white dots emerge like breath, like stars, like the quiet persistence of light in the darkest places.
The title came years later, as titles sometimes do — arriving only after the painting had already said everything it needed to say.
These Bones is not just a painting. It is a testimony. Original painting, one-of-a-kind. By Art Studio by Velma.
